Palisades Park (NJ)Queens represents the major Korean hub in the eastern United States and an important area for the global Korean diaspora, with roughly 65% of NYC Korean community living from Jackson Heights to Flushing, Murray Hill, Auburndale, Bayside, and Douglaston-Little Neck, with Northern Boulevard a vital corridor. Many varieties of Korean are spoken here, and in the area there is also a distinct and substantial Korean-Chinese community (Joseonjok), whose variety of Korean is related to the Hamgyŏng dialect of the northeast. A smaller Korean community in the Bronx, mostly elderly, gathers at the Bronx Korean American Senior Citizens Association, while younger Korean families in Brooklyn send their children to the Brooklyn Korean School.

s reported by Jeffrey Kim via Hanjin and Sungja Lee of Brooklyn, the Jejudo Association of America (founded in 1978) represents a few hundred active members in the New York area, out of a population several times that number. Members are largely professionals dispersed around the metropolitan area who may now be more likely to speak Standard Korean or English, but at least some regular gatherings have taken place in Bergen County and some, like Hanjin and Sungja, continue to speak the distinctive and endangered Jeju-eo language of their original island homeland and even passed it down. The Jeju Massacre of 1948 continues to be a touchstone for members of the community.
