Flatironhe Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sava in Manhattan has been a nerve center of the community since 1942, but most Serbian speakers live in Queens. According to one community member, Serbians in Astoria come primarily from the south of the country, whereas the community around Ridgewood and Glendale (which gathers at the Serbian Association of New York building) is more heavily from Belgrade and the surrounding area. The Holy Ascension Serbian Orthodox Church is a religious institution for Serbians in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
